About the Show

On the show “So Did You Hear?” I examine contemporary culture by prodding at hot topics we love to talk about but don’t often get to really reflect on in the hustle of the daily grind.

The show features a mix of solo conversations and interviews that explore insights from eye-opening personal experiences as well as those of shakers, movers, and artists in our community as we all navigate a hectic new world. From pressing political issues to pop culture, to travel and more, we get into the nitty-gritty of what shapes the world as we know it.

Show Playlists

“Attachment Theory” is widely talked about in online spaces related to mental health, but the boiled-down versions you hear about on Instagram reels and TikTok probably don’t adequately cover the complex nature of the topic- and it’s a problem. I explore my thoughts on the rise of pop-psychology, and why we should be careful about […] […]
This week, I welcome Abrar, a fellow KYRS programmer on the show to spotlight her new show “Roots & Rhythms”, a talk show highlighting stories about diversity in American identity. […]
This winter, I finally decided to learn how to snowboard. After a lifetime of skiing, starting a new snowsport from scratch felt intimidating, but the challenge and thrill of forging a new relationship with the familiar alpine wilderness inspired unexpected insights into navigating life. […]
What happens when you get a boomer and a millennial to debate over “hot takes”? It’s a common stereotype that these two generations can’t agree on anything, but how true is that really? I play a round of the game “Hot Takes”, a game of spicy opinions about life, culture, and society, with my mom […] […]
We’ve got a pop culture special today, and we can’t talk pop culture without talking about Stranger Things.  The iconic Netflix sci-fi series swept the nation as the show officially came to a close in December 2025, leaving many of us fans with an emotional void deeper than the Upside Down. As we part ways […] […]
Featuring former youth psychiatric nurse Tara Lee, we continue exploring themes around how stigma and dysfunction in the mental health field and civil court systems negatively impact vulnerable individuals and communities. TRIGGER WARNING: This conversation includes discussions of self-harm and suicide.     […]
In Western societies, people historically have been taught to look to institutions to provide guidance, justice, and safety when things go wrong- but the truth reflects a much different reality. Institutions like the medical and mental health fields, the justice system, law enforcement, and schools are failing. Bias, budget cuts, and political interference create serious […] […]
The term “restorative justice” gets thrown around a lot in our society, but what does it mean? I sit down with Gonzaga University professor Igna Laurent and Restorative Justice Consultant Julie Schaffer to better understand the movement and how community leaders are using it to remedy flaws in the US legal system. […]
On this episode, I speculate on what trends in fashion, pop culture, and lifestyle will be in and which ones will be going out the door this summer. […]
Homelessness and housing instability are prominent topics of social discourse today. On this episode, I welcome Jessica Burke, Director Of Development At Transitions Spokane on the show to discuss the unique challenges women experiencing homelessness face- and how non-profits like Transitions stand at the front line of intervention. […]
