Defend the Power of Independent Media

When powerful forces label the media as “the enemy,” it’s an attack on truth, accountability, and the communities that rely on independent voices like KYRS Thin Air Community Radio.

At KYRS, we amplify the stories others overlook, give a platform to voices often silenced, and provide fearless coverage of the issues that shape our world. But standing strong against these pressures requires resources—and that’s where you come in.

Your donation isn’t just a gift; it’s a declaration. A declaration that independent media is essential. That progressive, community-powered voices must not only endure but grow louder. That truth will not be intimidated.

Keep KYRS thriving as a beacon of independent media. Donate today and be part of the resistance against silencing our airwaves. Together, we’ll ensure that the stories that matter can always be heard.

KYRS Fall Fund Drive Helps Fight Hunger In Spokane

Cochinito Cares

What is the KYRS Fall Fund Drive all about?

The KYRS Fall Fund Drive is an annual fundraising event aimed at supporting Spokane’s community radio station, KYRS. This year, the drive takes on a special meaning with the “Cochinito Cares: Giving Back Spokane” partnership.

How is this year’s Fall fund drive different?

KYRS has partnered with Cochinito Taqueria to make a direct impact on the fight against hunger in Spokane. For every donation of $36 or more, Cochinito Taqueria will donate a full taco meal to Giving Back Spokane, a local non-profit organization.

Who benefits from the “Cochinito Cares: Giving Back Spokane” initiative?

Your donation supports two worthy causes:

  • KYRS: Keeps community radio thriving, providing diverse programming and a platform for local voices.

  • Giving Back Spokane: Receives taco meals from Cochinito Taqueria to distribute to those experiencing food insecurity in Spokane.

How much do I need to donate to provide a meal?

A donation of $36 or more will fund one full taco meal provided by Cochinito Taqueria to Giving Back Spokane.

When does the Fall Fund Drive take place?

The KYRS Fall Fund Drive runs from October 27th to November 2nd.

How can I donate to the KYRS Fall Fund Drive?

You can contribute in two ways:

Come Get Spooky With Us At Our 21st Anniversary Party!

October 26th, 2003 marked a pivotal moment for Spokane. It’s the year a passionate group of volunteers and supporters brought KYRS Thin Air Community Radio to life. For 21 years, we’ve been the heartbeat of your local airwaves, amplifying the voices, music, and stories of our community. Now, it’s time to celebrate the journey!

You’re invited to join the KYRS family—staff, programmers, board members, volunteers, and listeners both old and new—as we throw an unforgettable party to commemorate our 21st anniversary. Get ready for a free evening of music, dancing, history, and, most of all, a celebration of the love and connection we share.

Music Lineup:

Matt Mitchell Music Company: Imagine the raw energy of rootsy Americana, seasoned with crunchy blues and old-school country. If ‘The Band’ took a road trip to Laurel Canyon, only to pick up John Prine hitchhiking along the Pacific Coast, their jam session would sound something like this. It’s music that grooves, soothes, and moves you.

Little Gospel Devils: A Spokane-born garage rock trio that conjures the spirits of rock legends—think The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin. Their sound is raw, mischievous, and unapologetic, yet sincere and full of heart. With their electrifying stage presence, they’ll break down walls, smash self-doubt, and have you twisting, shouting, and hugging the stranger next to you.

This is a night for everyone who believes in the power of community radio. Let’s make memories, dance like no one’s watching, and toast to another 21 years of being Spokane’s voice.

Date: October 26th
Time: 7PM
Location: nxʷyxʷyetkʷ Hall (3rd floor), Spokane Central Library, 906 West Main
