It’s All About the Hook covers the roots and future of the Midwest Emo genre. Despite being itself a short-lived movement, emo’s “second wave” has taken on new life within today’s emo and indie rock scene. The experimental elements from flagships of the genre like American Football, Mineral, and Cap’n Jazz can be heard imitated and reimagined throughout the sounds of the emo revival.
