A discussion of the ways in which rationality becomes overweening and controlling to the exclusion of other ways of thinking. Building upon the works of Pierre Dupuy. Examples include the rationality of large, powerful organizations such as FIFA and the Olympic Committee.

Greater implications of this narrow rationality, inherited from the Enlightenment, are linked to developments in the world such as the Chinese expansion into  the Spratley Islands and the pre-programmed response of the US State Department and the US military.

The show concludes with a discussion of how ideologies become twisted into cages of rationality that overdetermine events such as war, market crashes, and a perversity of politics.
