I talked with Jessie Cramer about Advanced Directives. What happens if you go to the hospital, like my friend Biff and you become unconscious and are unable to make medical decisions for yourself? What if Biff bestows upon me his medical power of attorney and his instructions conflict with what his wife wants? She’s praying at the bedside and knows there is a miracle in store, and there I am with my fingers caressing the plug Biff told me he wanted pulled?!?! WHAT HAPPENS THEN!?!
Well, Jessie is the Program Manager of Advance Care Planning, Palliative Care at Providence. And she has some great answers and great insight! I picked up a lot of gems from this conversation and not just that everyone needs Advanced Directives. That’s right, I capitalized “Advanced Directives.” It’s that important, OK?
