Update on the Freeman High School shooting. On a Wednesday morning in September 2017, a boy who was fifteen years old at the time shot and killed a classmate and injured three other girls. This Monday, after multiple delays, attorneys will begin presenting evidence to determine if the suspected shooter, Caleb Sharpe, now seventeen years old, will be tried as an adult.
According to reports from the Spokesman Review,Sharpe is facing one count of first degree murder, three counts of attempted murder, and more than fifty counts of second degree assault related to the other students in the hallway who were in danger of being hit by bullets. If Sharpe is convicted as an adult, he could face life in prison. According to reports, Superior court Judge Michael Price said he expects testimony to run all this week, and attorneys could deliver closing arguments by July 22.
