What does it mean to “be a lady”? chances are, there is a laundry list of things you’ve heard people say about what girls and women should and should not do, regardless of your gender. In this episode, we read and analyze blogger Camille Rainville’s piece “Be a Lady, They Said” which highlights one such laundry list of expectations that women have had to hear time and time again. Federica and guests Joanna Meadows and Betty Webber speak about their individual experiences growing up and living as cis women in different time periods, and find themselves comparing many similarities in their journeys navigating social pressures and expectations throughout the ages. What has changed? well, not all that much, it may appear- but the conversation around these issues is evolving and growing more than ever.
