Today we had a great conversation with Jade. Her perceptions on poverty and homelessness were refreshing, in that they were framed from a totally different culture than our own. Her Father was from the Philippines, and her Mother was from Mexico. What we all discovered was that within both of these cultures, they measured success in a totally different way than what us Americans measure it as. They never considered themselves in poverty, because for them, success was having a large family, and not needing help from anyone, while they reside here in the states.
On a side note, I am beginning to understand that children have the ability to understand poverty at a really young age, as most of our guests have shared with us on the air.
