The topic for today was “Growing up in poverty and the struggles one goes through”. Our guest was Christine who lives here in Spokane. Christine has been in poverty since she was 9 years old due to a family conflict resulting in a divorce. Her struggles are typical of one who goes through poverty, yet her circumstances suggest by today’s standards, she is not in poverty. Christine and her family own their own vehicle, owns their own land, and owns a mobile home. Yet these aspects do not tell the story accurately of what the family is going through. Her story speaks for itself, in that just because she does not fit the bill of one being in poverty, does not mean she is not struggling.
