James and Paul discussed the incoming House of Representatives and, from a Progressive’s perspective, issues that ought be addressed. These include: passing a continuing resolution to keep the government running, climate change legislation via the New Green Deal, passing the Peoples’ Budget, universal single payer healthcare, Native American and former slave family repartitions, comprehensive and just immigration reform, a new progressive tax structure and repeal of the Republican tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, free quality public education at all levels and the forgiveness of student loan debt, comprehensive legislation to eliminate homelessness and to provide quality truly affordable housing to all, elimination of dirty energy subsidies and enhancement of clean renewable industry subsidies, shrinking the military industrial complex coupled with auditing and investigating all Pentagon spending, past and present, revoking corporate citizenship, funding a comprehensive national infrastructure plan, taxing all income for Social Security, breaking up the big banks and imposing strict regulations on the financial sector, and defunding military sales and all aid to repressive regimes world wide.
