Today’s topic was the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the history of free speech. We began the show by introducing a new periodic segment to the program in which we speak with KYRS staff and volunteers working behind the scenes to keep the station running and helping inform the vision to assure its ongoing and future success. Dana Matthews, our KYRS Program Director, was today’s guest. Following Dana’s chat we provided information concerning the upcoming weeks big events: Indigenous People’s Day March, The Women’s March, and the annual MLK Day March and celebration. Paul and James then examined the multifaceted effects of the expression and the suppression of free speech starting with the Wobblies here in Spokane 110 years ago.
