The Poor People’s Campaign, A National Call For Moral Revival, officially begins on Mother’s Day. Today’s guests, the Reverend Gen Heywood, and Shar Lichty are helping organize grass roots events here in Spokane, as well as upcoming weekly demonstrations in Olympia, Washington. We began our show with historical background into Dr. Martin Luther King’s genesis of the first Poor People’s Campaign in 1968, prior to his assassination. The following discussion focused on the systemic racism, poverty and economic inequities, unjust arrest and incarceration, wealth-skewed social policy, ecological devastation, and war economy and militarism, together with demands to rectify these inequities.
