Our conversation ranged from topics including the Spokanescape program and other water related issues, homelessness, public toilets, city policies aimed at stimulating multi-family housing, zoning code changes, downtown in-fill, social services and the general fund, infrastructure investment, the Central City rapid transit, political transparency, developer incentives, coal and oil train safety, Riverfront Mall financial issues, police accountability and the current MacArthur Foundation Grant, Smart Justice-Spokane and the Community Court, last year’s $400,000 cut to the Spokane Regional Health District, Trump/Ryan budget cuts, Washington State’s upside-down tax structure, racial, gender, sexual and economic injustice and inequities, aligning business with environmental concerns and smart growth, polarization vs. consensus building, and Spokane’s plan to have 100% renewable energy by 2030.
