We examined upcoming 2018 Washington State ballot Initiatives to the People (ITP). The subject is timely, particularly because ITP petitions are currently circulating for voter signatures. While popular measures garnering the requisite amount of voter support will be passed on to this November’s ballot, careful reading of these initiatives is recommended prior to signing one’s name. We examined proposed progressive state initiatives, as well as certain right wing/big money-backed initiatives couched in misleading language. Our call-in guest, Lamont Worden, provided information on the progressive Clean Power Initiative 1631. If passed, Initiative 1631 will charge a fee to carbon dispersers, generating an estimated $1.3 billion for Washington State to reinvest in the environment.
