Our first guest was Lisa Brown, the Democratic Party candidate challenging incumbent Cathy McMorris-Rogers and three others for Washington State’s 5th Congressional District seat in August’s primary election. We discussed appealing to both progressive and conservative constituents; if elected her notion of ideal Congressional Committed assignments, local ramifications of this year’s Republican tax bill, solutions to wealth inequities, Citizen United, protecting and expanding social programs and “entitlements”, single payer universal healthcare, the district’s top environmental challenges, wild salmon restoration, building more affordable and subsidized housing locally, and the possibility of a national homeless policy.
