Tonight we celebrated a big accomplishment with our tiny cohost from our New Year’s 2025 show. Kent, Washington’s Gianna lost her first tooth while we were live, and her mom sent us a photo showing Lil G’ missing one tiny bottom tooth. Also, despite my personal nerves being off the chart for the first hour and fifteen, we both felt that this was our best show. I hope that trend continues, well the part about each show improving over the past ones, NOT the nerves. It can be a bit much to know you are live on the air, something I never dreamed of, nor wanted. Actually, this happened for us through happenstance, and one day we will share that story.
Tonight’s show span the genres and the feels. I even found myself wiping a tear as I read to you about another community member (an artist) who experienced being kicked out of the house as a teen for identifying as an LGBTQ+ individual.
That is why Q IT UP is here. Too many times we sit alone, feeling isolated as members of such a massive, beautiful, intelligent, capable and worthy community. It’s incredibly insensitive to not recognize that we all have had unique journeys even when they seem to align in many ways. However, we are united through this exact reasoning and that includes our allies.
Q IT UP was created to give you two hours a week of music you can KNOW is there FOR YOU and BY ARTISTS who value your listenership or even fandom. We check as thoroughly as we can to present new artists and the popular ones that we can verify (with the best of our ability) to be sure you are sitting in a safe space while you turn it up to Q IT UP.
