The term,”non-linear war,” was coined in a short story written by Vladislav Surkov and was published under his pseudonym, Nathan Dubovitsky. It describes a new type of war of “all against all.” The application of this term by Korybko in reaction to the FP article by Peter Pomerantsev was discussed as a way of describing the integrated military, political, economic and cultural applications in current conflicts between the US and Russia, as well as in the middle-east.
President Obama’s request for a new AUMF was analyzed as extending US strategies to widen conflict in the middle east. ISIS, Al Nursa, and other middle east insurgent groups appear to be using this form of war which leads to speculation about who controls these groups as well as speculation about the telos of their actions.
MH17 was discussed as fitting the model of a false flag operation. Attempts by Ukrainian forces to create the illusion of a Russian airstrike in Ukraine by SU 25 planes was analyzed.
The burning to death of a Jordanian pilot at the hands of ISIS was compared to the burning to death of children and other civilians in US drone strikes. The morality of killing non-combatants was discussed as contributing to a growing resistance to continued US military actions globally.
