In this show I discuss the US legal origins of limiting free speech, including libel, slander, obscenity and fighting words. This sets the frame for a discussion of the Charlie Hebdo incident in France and the immediate passing of a law in France greatly reducing free speech rights. The inherent contradiction of this action leads to an analysis of contemporary international news as containing large quantities of propaganda.
Specific cases of people being punished in the US over free speech issues included the cases of Maher Arar, Dr. Sami Al-Arian and others.
