Host Taylor Weech continues last week’s discussion of frontline climate change resistance by taking a look at the actions of water protectors at the Sacred Stone Camp & Red Warrior Camp at Standing Rock this summer. The show opens with a short discussion about solidarity in Spokane so far with local activist Mara Spitzer, followed by resources for those looking to take action in solidarity against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

In the second half of the show, she plays an interview from late July 2015 with Leota Ironcloud and Gary Dorr, who were then engaged in the fight against Keystone XL at the Rosebud Spirit Camp, not far from where #NoDAPL actions are taking place today. The discussion of the connection between the site as a spiritual site and a site for direct action seemed beyond relevant to include here, as it shows the extent of organizing that’s happened around this issue in these communities.

The end of the show covers the false victory of announcements that the pipeline has been stopped and even since this recording, events have further progressed.
