We were joined in-studio by Peace Corps veterans Karen Larsen, Kay Dixon, Sarah Litckfold, & Russell Flemming. Their combined personal experiences volunteering in the Peace Corps range from the early 1960’s to the relative present. We discussed the history of the organization, insights into each volunteer’s host country, special challenges they faced, volunteer living conditions, questions of native trust and assimilation, political alliances and corruption within host nations, and how the Peace Corps manages to retain its integrity given the pressures of this nation’s vast and powerful intelligence complex.
