How can music be played in your station from a local recording artist?
David!
Excellent question, sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
There are a couple ways to get on the air at KYRS.
Hallie, our music librarian is a great source. She also runs The Inbox every Sunday morning at 11am.
Sending us a CD, and letting us know its local puts it in a couple people’s hands.
Me? I’m Homegrown Radio, and you can email me or call me during my show every Tuesday 6-8pm (Warning, I have a precorded show on this Tuesday the 11th, sorry!).
But 99.5% of Tuesday evenings, I’m there.
I only play regional music and artists.
All styles. All genres.
But we have a few shows who really love local music… but they usually focus on genres and simply include local music they like and enjoy supporting local artists.
Welcome Home, with Cary on Wednesdays at 10am, likes folk.
Pat on Battlestar Ecclectica is pop, rock, R&B, garage, and folk on Saturday nights.
DJ Downlow, Wednesday from 2-4pm is Inside the Hype, playing hip-hop, R&B, Soul, and Funk.
Look for our shows and email us! Tell us about you and send us (clean, FCC appropriate) copies of your music.
You can call us during our shows, we will always try to pick up the phone.
If it goes to VM, try again! We might be busy. Call when the music is playing, is another tip.
If we are talking… we are live, and cannot pick up the phone.
Good luck, David! Hope to hear from you!
