The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) is the largest cultural institution in the Inland Northwest, located in Spokane’s historic Browne’s Addition neighborhood.
Established in 1916 as the Spokane Historical Society, the MAC is a Smithsonian-affiliated museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
The museum features five underground galleries showcasing regional history, visual arts, and American Indian culture. Its campus includes the historic 1898 Campbell House, designed by architect Kirtland Cutter, offering guided tours that provide insights into early Spokane life.
The MAC houses over one million artifacts, including the world’s largest collection of Plateau Indian art and artifacts, as well as fine art, historical photographs, and documents from the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Additional facilities include the Joel E. Ferris Research Library & Archives, a museum store, a café, an education center, and the Center for Plateau Cultural Studies .
