On Monday, Seattle based company, Amazon held a marketing event called, “Prime Day,” but, a group of employees held a strike outside of an Amazon fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota, The goal being to further inform the general public of what workers feel are unfair working conditions that warehouse employees face.
Multiple workers in Shakopee stated that people were commonly fired on as little as four mistakes. The firing process is mostly automated too, with the machine ultimately making the decision.

Faizel Dualeh, one of the striking workers, said, ”Oh, we didn’t fire you, the machine fired you because you are lower than the rate,”

According to striking employees, the facilities are so large that it’s nearly impossible to use the restroom without your rate falling. Going to the restroom means working twice as hard once you get back. Amazon in a statement said,“events like Prime Day has become an opportunity for our critics, including unions, to raise awareness for their cause, in this case, increased membership dues. These groups are conjuring misinformation to work in their favor, when in fact we already offer the things they purport to be their cause — industry leading pay of $15 per hour, benefits, and a safe workplace for our employees. We can only conclude that the people who plan to attend the event on Monday are simply not informed.”

Warehouse workers are constantly moving around, climbing ladders, bending down, and carrying and opening packages.
