On Monday afternoon, the Spokane City Council approved an agreement for the purchase of a new 24 hour homeless shelter. The property is located on East Sprague, inside the former Grocery Outlet building. They hope to have it open in the fall and will house up to 120 people. The council has set aside 50,000 dollars for the purchase. The City Council also received $2 million in homeless grant funds from the county. They also approved we grants for existing charities. 120,000 dollars has been allocated to Family Promise, 20,000 to Women’s Hearth-Transitions, and 200,000 to House of Charity.
