Soccer Mommy is the project for 20 year old singer-songwriter Sophie Allison, a luminary figure amongst an ever growing alleyway of indie wordsworths. Her debut album, Clean, was released this year on Fat Possum Records. Clean is subtle, a vine enduring through the dirt from a fit of photosynthesis.
Allison showcases her natural ability to sketch moods on opening track “Still Clean”, where she immerses the listener with a lone amplified guitar. One immediately sees her strumming against the wooden backdrop that graces the cover of her LP. “Your Dog” and “Scorpio Rising” are also standouts, the latter of which Allison’s composition and lyrics bring the listener to a place of bubbling optimism.
