Electronic music is alternative music.  There have certainly been hit tunes but synthesis is uniquely creative and for many artists is never the same twice.  Synthesis is egalitarian.  One does not have to have studied and practiced for years to create music.   The electronics that create this music are affordable and approachable, drawing many talented people to its ranks.
