The federal civil society program AmeriCorps was highlighted during the program’s first segment. AmeriCorps volunteers Milena Pointer and Ben Prez spoke to the civic importance and personal gratification of helping folks in Spokane obtain, choose, and prepare wholesome, healthy, and delicious foodstuffs via programs they participate in at Second Harvest. Julie Humphries, Community Relations Director at Second Harvest joined the conversation, explaining, amongst other things, the myriad ways Second Harvest helps feed our growing food insecure regional population.
