KYRS Travels to Iran

06/12/2009 10:07 AM

Sharo Nikfar, host of The Persian Hour on KYRS, and two families from Spokane, recently traveled to Iran to plant a “peace tree” on behalf of the people of Spokane.

This trip was to reciprocate a peace-tree planting by two Iranian cyclists which took place in Spokane in 2008 at Polly Judd Park.

Sharo and crew have an amazing slide presentation to document their trip, which was meant to spread a message of friendship and understanding and to promote peace and environmental conservation.

Please join KYRS for a fun evening as we present a slideshow by the members of this group on Friday, June 26th at 7:30 PM At the Magic Lantern Theatre located at 25 W. Main.  Tickets are only $5 and seats are limited. All proceeds benefit KYRS.

See ancient street markets, thousand-year-old villages, sand dunes, rock climbing and soccer with kids. Hear great stories from their travels.

That’s “KYRS Travels to Iran” slide presentation Friday, June 26th at 7:30 PM at the Magic Lantern.

Advance tickets are available at KYRS by calling 747-3012.

Film Night: Before the Music Dies on the big screen

03/19/2009 09:53 AM

92.3 FM Presents the Film: “Before the Music Dies”

(A film about the state of the music industry in America)

Saturday April 4th at 7:30pm at the Magic Lantern Theatre (located at 25 W. Main).

Music seems to have split in two: the homogenous corporate product that is spoon-fed consumers, and the diverse, independent music that finds devoted fans online and at clubs across the country.

“Before the Music Dies” tells the story of American music at this precarious moment. Perfomances and interviews by Dave Matthews Band, Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello, Calexico, Doyle Bramhall II, Branford Marsalis, QuestLove, and a diverse group of artists and street musicians from Seattle to Mississippi.

This is a must-see film for music fans!

All proceeds benefit 92.3 FM. $6 Donation at the door.
